BSY is our 'anna daata', say workers

Work pertaining to the construction of an Information and Technology park on Shimoga-Bhadravathi Road and a new district jail and staff quarters on nearly 72 acres at Sogane village Survey No 120 is in progress.

Bangalore-based Rao Construction company has been entrusted with the construction of the jail at a cost of 540 crore with an August 9, 2013 deadline.

Workers from Andhra Pradesh are constructing the jail along with the locals, and workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are building the IT park. Though the construction workers do not know much about Yeddyurappa, they seem to be aware that a prominent leader from the region is in trouble.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Shyam, a daily wage worker from Shimoga, said: “We consider Yeddyurappa as our ‘anna daata’ as he had sanctioned all these projects. Indirectly, he is responsible for our livelihood.”

Siddappa, a  worker from Andhra Pradesh, said: “I don’t know much about him (Yeddyurappa). People are saying he is a good man and that he is in trouble. I sympathise with him.”
