Nearly a month ago, Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily took CMC members to task as there were complaints of not providing the basic facilities and carrying out of any development work in the taluk.

In the mweeting, instead of giving reasons for delay, the CMC members were busy blaming the other for the failure. Angered by behaviour of the members, the Minister directed the members to stop blaming and to implement development works as soon as possible.

After the meeting it was decided to bring a sea change in the CMC and to work sincerely. But, the residents express thier disappointment over delay in work and also complain that the works which were half done are left just like that, nor any new project has been taken up.

Especially the BB Road and MG Road are worst affected as mud is mounting on the road. “Both pedestrians and people in the vehicle are facing problem while travelling. The pedestrians cannot even walk on the footpath as it is occupied by the street vendors,” explains K Ramesh, a resident of Chamarajapet speaking to Deccan Herald.

When P Vasanthkumar was the Assistant Commissioner, reacting to people’s protest, action was taken to clean the roads everyday. But this was discontinued within a month and the roads continue to be in bad condition.

“The pourakarmikas clean the roads in Bangalore and Chintamani. But no one is bothered about cleanliness here. Though the roads are filled with potholes, no repair work is undertaken. People’s representatives travel on the same road, but no one has taken any action,” says Narayanaswamy, a trader.
