Impressive: Dr Saraswathi and Dr Nandini performing ‘Gita Govinda’
Gita Govinda in Kuchipudi

Dr Saraswathi Rajathesh gave a dance programme along with her troupe under the “Every Friday cultural evening programme” series.

She has received training in Kuchipudi and running a dance school called Natya Saraswathi. Though a doctor by profession, she has choreographed few Dance Dramas like Bhamakalapam, Shivaganga, Mohini Bhasmasura.

The “Gita Govinda” was the choice of Dr Saraswathi, for the current programme. Based on the Ashtapadi of Jayadeva Radhakrishna’s love, separation, anger, grieves, joy and reunion were expressed in a pleasant manner. It began with a invocatory sloka from Krishnashtakam and with Jayadeva and Padmavathi. Popular Tavavirahe, Yaahi Madhava, Chaaru Sheele - etc were also rendered.

Fifty per cent of the programme was won by the melodious music itself, which was complementary, to the dance throughout. Dr Saraswathi and Dr Nandini acted as Radha and Krishna respectively, impactfully, while other students of the school performed with ease and gay abandon.
