Addressing a news conference on Wednesday JD(S) district president H H Devaraj said that common man is made to run from pillar to post to get even simplest of work done in any department. Though several protests have been staged at various places to draw the attention of district administration it has not yielded any results.

District in-charge Minister S Suresh Kumar has been neglecting the development of the district, said Devaraj adding that KDP meeting has not been held over the last three months. “The District in-charge Minister has been visiting the district only to hoist flags and cut ribbons. He has not bothered to pay visit to the rain-hit and drought-hit areas of the district.Drainage laid from Basavanahalli Lake to Syndicate bank has proved to be of sub standard quality, he said.

“We did not have to raise voice against this because the drainage collapsed with one rain, speaking volume on the standard of work executed. We demanded action against the Engineer and the Contractor but this has not yielded any result,” he informed and urged the district administration to direct the officials to re-construct the drainage.

Forum soon

He said that Citizens’ Forum including representatives from all parties barring BJP will be formed and an apolitical movement will be started in the district keeping in mind all round development of the district and the city.Organisations, parties, traders and who ever interested can take part in the preparatory meet to be held on November 11 in this regard, he said adding that JD(S) will back any organisation taking lead to fight against corruption.

“The Forum will aim at creating awareness on the sub-standard work being carried out in the district and to shape movement against the same in the district. During the preparatory meet the plans will be chalked out. If nobody comes forth to support us we will wage this war ourselves,” he said.

Plastic ban

Drawing attention on the fact that there is plastic ban in the region, he said that some organisations have been using plastic for decorative purposes in the city. “The DC should take note of this and punish these organisations. Action should be taken against the Town Municipal Council officials for remaining silent despite seeing this,” he said.He said that though Kadur has been declared as drought-hit area, no steps have been taken to open gruel centers and fodder units in the area.

He further said that since Dattamala Abhiyan has started, the district administration should see to it that there is no violation of the Court order at the Bababudangiri hills.
