But for this group of 45-odd engineers of the 1993 batch of the prestigious Panjab Engineering College (PEC) in Chandigarh, the countdown has begun. On Friday, November 11, 11 (11-11-11), outside house number 11 in Chandigarh, at sharp 11 am, they will all get together to celebrate and fulfil the pledge they made 18 years ago to reunite.

Batch mates from faraway Canada, US, Australia and Singapore too are making sure they are together on the occasion. Many of them, who will be meeting after years, were once room mates in PEC, sharing everything from clothes to pocket money to torn jeans. Today, many of them have made it large in life, serving as chief executive officers in the corporate world and as managing directors of reputed firms.

“It’s a nostalgic moment for all of us,” Raja Sekhar, chief financial officer of Etos Watches said, talking to Deccan Herald. So how did this reunion date strike? Raja says, since it was one date that comes in a lifetime, we thought it best to meet on this date that is viewed as a calendar numeric extravaganza of sorts. “For decades, we have been mentioning and reminding our friends of this date, writing small footnotes in mailers,” he says.  Friday will also see many of their old professors gracing the occasion.
