Coffee Innovation 2011 to be held in Ammathi on Tuesday

Addressing a news conference here recently, Vedike President  A A Chengappa said that the programme aims at giving information on modern and innovative techniques in agriculture.

Experts from agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, forest, silk rearing etc along with experts on agriculture techniques, agriculture market will be brought on one platform.

“In Kodagu district agriculture has seen decline due to various reasons. There are apprehensions raised over the future of Coffee cultivation too. The programme aims to give information on various activities that will support and complement coffee so that growers reap more profits,” he said.

Vedike secretary K R Babu said that the programme will be inaugurated by Coffee Board President Javed Akther. Papers will be presented on coffee nutrient management, coffee planting, coffee market, alternate crops etc.

Dr Srinkanth from Mangalore Chemical and Fertilisers, KPA former president Sahadev Balakrishna, coffee planter from Sakleshpur Dr Anand Pereira, Coffee Board joint director M C Ponnappa and others will present papers on various topics.

The Vedike started in 1998 has over 180 members at present.
