A showcause notice has been served on Mithilesh Kumari, who is accused of throwing yellow mustard seeds inside the residence of district magistrate Pinki Jowal as part of a “tantrik” act, by her boss Commandant Nanku Ram.
According to sources, the district magistrate had summoned Mithilesh for some work a few days ago.
Later on she found some yellow mustard seeds scattered in her room. Mithilesh was immediately taken off duty after the incident.
A priest was called for and a special puja was performed at the DM's residence to “purify” it and “nullify the impact of the tantrik act.”
However, Mithilesh has a different story to tell.
“I bought yellow mustard seeds to add to homemade pickles. I was carrying them when I was called by the DM . The packet containing them slipped from my hands and fell in the room,” Mithilesh claimed.
Yellow mustard seeds are traditionally used while performing “tantra” and black magic for “hypnotising” people.
Gajraj Pathak, president of the District Homeguards' Association took exception to the incident and said serving notice to the home guard was amounted to persecution.
He also warned of an agitation if the notice was not withdrawn.
