'State neglecting development projects'

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, he alleged that the blue print for the Rs 66 crore drinking water project was chalked out during his tenure. The Government released a fund of Rs 13 crore in the year 2007-08. Work was started accordingly. Rs 3 crore was released in the year 2008-09. The progress of the work is still in the initial stages as the government did not release any more funds for the project in the 2009-10 financial year. The recent statements of the Government authorities concerned confirm financial stability in the State. Why is the government reluctant to release the necessary funds for the initiated projects? Poojary questioned.

The government had released Rs 1.05 crore funds of the estimated Rs 1.2 crore project of 30 high school buildings in the district during the year 2007-08. Rs 1.95 crore was released for 39 buildings in the year 2008-09, but the government failed to release money for the 18 school building projects initiated at a cost of Rs 84 lakh for the year 2009-10. A total sum of Rs 2.94 crore is needed for the execution of the entire project. The government has released Rs 26.76 lakh in the year 2009-10 for the development of the roads and bridges in the SC/ST colonies. In the year 2008-09, Rs 11 crore were allotted and for the year 2009-2010, Rs 10 crore was released under the 12th Finance programme. Under Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojane, the government released only Rs 1.90 crore in the year 2009-10 for the repair works of the stretches, he accused.
