Lokayukta police objects to Katta Jagadish's bail plea

Last Updated 26 November 2011, 17:16 IST

Lokayukta Special Public Prosecutor I S Pramod Chandra, who filed the objections on behalf of the Lokayukta police submitted that all the grounds that were specified in the present bail application had already been covered during the arguments for the earlier bail application and hence they could not be entertained.

In response to Jagadish’s plea for bail citing delay in the trial process, the Lokayukta submitted that trial could be commenced as early as possible. Katta Jagadish is one of the main accused in the KIADB land scam and is presently housed in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, as his bail application had been rejected by both Lokayukta Court and the High Court.

Jagadish, in his application has cited his father’s ill health as one of the reasons for seeking bail. Katta Subramanya Naidu is presently out on interim bail, as he had to seek treatment for his cancer.

Katta Subramanya has also been allowed to travel to London for treatment. Jagadish said he wanted to be with his father during his treatment as he was the only son.
However, Katta Subramanya has not yet filed an application before the Court seeking permission to travel abroad for treatment.

Jagadish also cited his mother’s illness although no specific ailment that his mother suffers from has been mentioned. He also maintained that his two-year-old son needed care and attention.

The Lokayukta police have also filed objections to the bail plea of Itasca MD Srinivas S V. Apart from deteriorating health, Srinivas has maintained that he was not supplied with a copy of the charge sheet against him during his bail plea and hence he could not adequately prepare the bail application.

Split charge sheet

The Lokayukta police have prepared a split charge sheet in the KIADB scam case, as two of the accused, S Jaggaiah and B L Venkaiah have not yet been apprehended.
A separate case has now been filed against the two and non-bailable warrants have been issued against them.

The Lokayukta police on July 8 had submitted a charge sheet to the Special Lokayukta Court against Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 87 crore to allot 325 acres of land to Itasca Software Development Company.
