Although Kanimozhi was granted bail on Monday, she had to spend the night in Tihar as certain formalities related to her release- furnishing of bail bonds before the judge could materialise only on Tuesday. Visibly pleased, Kanimozhi stepped out of Tihar around 7.30 pm along with Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani and Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetables Pvt Ltd directors Rajiv Aggarwal and Asif Balwa.

Speaking to Deccan Herald earlier in the day at Patiala House Court premises, Kanimozhi revealed that she has no plans to celebrate and would go to her official MP residence after her release from Tihar. “No, No celebrations. Anyway I have no friends here. All of them are in Chennai or away,” said Kanimozhi when asked whether she would be partying in the night. She further added that plans to visit Chennai could only materialise during the weekends when the trial on her case is not scheduled.

As per the court orders and one of the conditions for her release, Kanimozhi has to be present in the court during the hearings.

Around 10 DMK MPs including the Parliamentary party leader T R Baalu were present in the court, where formalities related to her release warrant were completed. Later, boarding the Jail bus, Kanimozhi left for Tihar. “There will be no celebrations. Though we are very happy and delighted on her release celebrations would come only on acquittal,” said Baalu when asked whether they would throw some bash for the release of their leader, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi's daughter.
