Janardhan was a saxophone artiste in Udupi Venkatramana Temple for the last 40 years. The award carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a memento.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that Janardhan had brought laurels to the district with his saxophone recitals.
A saxophone concert will be held before the inauguration of Udupi district offices complex at End Point in Manipal on December 25.
MLA Raghupati Bhat, Udupi City Municipal Council president Kiran Kumar, vice-president Bharati Chandrashekhar, Udupi Urban Development Authority chairman B Sudhakar Shetty, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada Districts Fish Marketing Federation president Yashpal Suvarna, and Udupi Taluk Panchayat president Devadas Hebbar were present.
