Women to reject 'widowhood'

Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple, which broke the traditions during Navaratri festival by allowing 2,500 widows to take part in the pooja, will yet again organise a programme where over 5,000 married women will take oath of not following widowhood.

According to a press release issued by the temple Trust President H S Sairam, 5,000 women will take oath of not following the traditions, rituals and customs  of widowhood in case if they lose their husbands in future. The programme will be held on January 1, at the temple premises. Congress leader B Janaradhan Poojary will administer the oath.

A special Chandika Homa too will be performed on the occasion. The women themselves will offer prayer to the Goddess and pull the silver chariot be seated by the presiding deity. All the women who will participate in the oath-taking ceremony will be offered with sari, blouse piece, bangles, vermilion and flowers , informed the release.
