Rita Menon to be new ITPO chief

Textiles Secretary Rita Menon, who is due for superannuation on December 31, is likely to be the new Chairperson and Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), which specialises in organising exhibitions and trade fairs.

“Rita Menon is likely to take up the assignment from the first week of January,” a source said.

Rajeev Kher, who is Additional Secretary in the Commerce Ministry, has been officiating as the CMD of ITPO since August this year after Subas Chandra Pani completed his tenure here at Pragati Maidan, the ITPO headquarters. A 1975 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Menon has been serving as the Textiles Secretary since February 2009. Prior to this, she served as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary in the Ministry of Finance (Expenditure).
