The Banaswadi police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including an usurer, for allegedly extorting money from traders.
The police arrested Venkataram Reddy, Manjunath Reddy and Jagadish and seized a sports utility vehicle, 75 blank cheques bearing only signatures, 34 blank stamp papers bearing signatures, six auto-rickshaws and documents relating to land.
Venkataram Reddy, a native of Kodihalli, runs a dairy farm and also lends money for interest. He later roped in Manjunath Reddy and Jagadish into the lending business.
Rowdies’ houses raided
The Central Division Police early Thursday morning raided houses of several rowdy-sheeters in the City.
As many as 35 rowdies were taken into custody for interrogation. The police raided houses at Ashoknagar, Wilson Garden, S R Nagar, Viveknagar, Vyalikaval, S J Park and Seshadripuram.
Those taken into police custody were Khaleel, Mubarak Ali, Lingaraju, Mahalinga, Noor, Ayyappa and Suresh.
