Criminal action against four doctors

The district administration will register criminal cases against four doctors of a private nursing home in connection with dumping of foetuses.

Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj told reporters on Saturday that after an inquiry it had come to light that all the foetuses were disposed of by Vivekananda Nursing Home. He said cases would be registered against Dr Mahendra, Dr Bharathi, Dr Shyamala Bai and Dr Kalevani of the private hospital.

The DC said the nursing had not submitted any report on scanning done at the hospital as required under law and had wantonly disposed of the foetuses it had collected. “I have also recommended the cancellation of the registration of the hospital,” he said.
