Senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu and National Executive member, Sukumaran Nambiar, passed away in Chennai on Sunday, following a cardiac arrest, party sources said.
He was 60 and is survived by his wife and two sons. Nambiar held various positions in the BJP and had unsuccessfully contested the 2004 Lok Sabha polls from the North Chennai constituency.
An expert in several martial arts with a ‘black belt’ in karate, Nambiar, a businessman by profession after his tenure in the Indian Army, was one of the popular faces of the State BJP with his suave and self-effacing approach.
