'BJP sure of ZP members supporting Congress rebel'

Last Updated 27 August 2009, 18:14 IST

Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Sunil said that the trio remained absent during the ZP election scheduled to be held on August 24 and the party had forgiven them once. Since BJP is not in a position to come to power on its own, it is supporting candidates from other parties, he said and added that BJP has given political identity to B C Neelamma, K C Meena Kumari as well as Susheela Lokaiah.

He said that though Neelamma has said that she has not gained anything from BJP, the fact is that BJP is not dependent on anybody. “Party has forgiven these three women once. On September 4, BJP will try its level best to come to power,” he opined.

He said that District Congress President Veena Achaiah and ZP Member V P Shashidhar who is supporting Congress after quitting JD(S) have no credibility to speak about Deputy Speaker K G Bopaiah.

Answering a query on the statement of B C Neelamma, Meena Kumari and Susheela Lokaiah that there is no question of supporting Congress rebel candidate V M Vijaya who is supported by BJP, Sunil said that running away from power when the avenues leading to it are open is incorrect. BJP State Committee Member Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, Madikeri Taluk Unit President Bellu Somaiah, Ttaluk Panchayat Member Napanda Kalappa, MUDA President A K Palaksha and others were present.
