20-year-old Manipuri girl raped in Dwarka

A 20-year-old Manipuri girl was raped in Dwarka area of south west Delhi by a man who got her into his car on the pretext of giving her a lift, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place when the victim, a resident of Mahipalpur in south Delhi who works at a private company in Gurgaon, Haryana, was returning home on Wednesday evening. She was looking for a taxi, when a car stopped in front of her.

“The stranger offered the victim a lift near IFFCO Chowk in Gurgaon at around 8:45 pm, but instead of taking her to Mahipalpur, he took her to an isolated place in Dwarka and raped her,” a senior police officer said.

Then, he fled from there after threatening her with dire consequences if she told the police about the  incident. The victim walked towards the road where a passerby approached her for help. He lent his mobile phone to her and she informed her brother about the incident. Her brother and police reached the spot and rushed her to a nearby hospital. A medical test conducted on the girl confirmed rape.

“There were bruises and injuries on her body. We have registered a case of rape at Dwarka Sector-23 police station,” the officer added. Police said they had recovered the alleged rapist's debit card.
