CET: Casual vacancy round to end today

However the schedule for the second round of counselling for the students who have passed the II PUC supplementary examination is yet to be announced. According to Karnataka Examination Authority official, the State government has permitted the authority to go ahead with the counselling session.

“The schedule for the second round of counselling will be announced shortly. Candidates with eligibility will be allowed to select engineering courses within a day or two” the official added.

Seats vacant
Based on the reports, many engineering seats are unfilled and a few thousand seats are also vacant in private engineering colleges. It may be recalled that the total pass percentage in II PUC 2009 examination was just about 41 per cent with more than 50 per cent unable to clear the examinations.

With the lowest pass percentage in science subject, the State government had sought the sanctioning of 12 new private engineering colleges, although each year, thousands of engineering seats remain vacant.
