Headlines and deadlines

Last Updated 23 February 2012, 19:32 IST

The eversmiling Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda remained so even on a tenseful day for the party.

He maintained that all was well in his party, and that he had no doubts about continuing in the chief minister’s gaddi. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting at the Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore on Thursday, Gowda said it was the media which was churning the news.

“Yeddyurappa is our leader. There is no need to give so much importance to the luncheon meet – such meetings are very common in the party. Even I went there (Yeddyurappa’s house) in the morning, but I could not participate in the afternoon meeting as I had to participate in a programme in Mangalore.”

Gowda said the confusions and conspiracy theories were all a media creation. When asked about his continuation as chief minister, he said, “I will present the budget. It is the media which is writing the headlines and setting the deadlines,” he added.
