A royal Punjabi treat

A Punjab village was set up at the ITM Institute of Hotel Management (ITM IHM) for the annual ‘Culinary Fiesta 2012’ — Mazedar Khurak recently. Tucked away in the outskirts of the City, the event brought in food lovers from across the City.

People dressed in traditional Punjabi outfits welcomed the guests even as they played dhols and nagadas. Huts, which resembled Punjabi dhabas, were set up in the college campus and served authentic Punjabi food. The entire event was planned and executed by the students of ITM IHM.

At least 52 lip-smacking delicacies were served. Right from dahi papdi chaat to missi roti and from rabdi to moong dal halwa, food lovers had wide range to choose from.

The entire venue was transformed to a Punjabi village with dhabas and lanterns. Students had also put up few food stalls which had chef-special dishes. The culinary fiesta kept its promise and tantalised the taste buds of food lovers who attended this carnival.

Hotelier and chefs from Taj Vivanta, The Oberoi, Ista, ITC Hotels, Citrus Hotel, Lemon Tree Hotel, Novotel, Crown Plaza also participated in the event and appreciated ITM IHM’s effort.

A number of activities like pottery, mehendi designing, bangle selling, magic show, disco-jockeying and bhangra workshop were held. Guests, accompanied by their friends and families, seemed to enjoy the mouth-watering food fiesta.The culinary fiesta lived up to people’s expectations.

Appreciating the efforts of the students, Antony Mahendran, principal of ITM IHM, said, “This food festival is one-of-its kind. Students have put in all their effort and worked hard for more than two months to achieve this goal.

The food festival has helped students to understand marketing, event management, food production etc better.”

The event proved to be a royal treat for food lovers.
