<p>A policeman was dismissed from service Tuesday after he was caught on video raping a woman in a slum area in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The police, who were earlier refusing to entertain a rape complaint against the policeman, were forced to register an FIR when shown the video clip taken on a mobile camera.<br /><br />Pradeep Singh, an inspector posted in Seoni district, had come to Jabalpur to visit a court. Later, he went to a slum area and entered a hut.<br /><br />When he forced himself on a woman, she cried and people gathered there. The inspector was literally caught on camera with his pants down.<br /><br />Police at first refused to accept her complaint. But soon a person came with the video clip and the police had to register a FIR against the inspector.<br /><br />However, Jabalpur police did not lodge the case under section 376 (rape) as demanded by the woman and others, but 305 (harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.<br /><br />"It is a serious issue of moral conduct, so after talking to director general of police, we have dismissed him from service," Inspector General of Police V. Madhukumar told IANS.</p>
