BSY did not audit ` 260 crore, alleges Ugrappa

Legislative Council former chairman V S Ugrappa demanded the dismissal of State government as former CM Yeddyurappa has failed to audit the amount of as many as Rs 260 crore given to him by a minister in his cabinet during 2008 assembly polls.

Speaking to media persons, Ugrappa said expenditure details of amount exceeding Rs 20,000 should be given to Election Commission as per Section (C) of Representative Act.

As Yeddyurappa has failed to do so, Election Commission should take cognisable action against the government. He said state government will collapse after Udupi-Chikmagalur bypoll. A loss of Rs 20,000 has been incurred owing to illegal mining to the state’s exchequer, he alleged.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has become a broken home. Increasing corruption in the party has led to BJP’s debacle. The incompetent government has failed in all aspects. Not even 60 per cent of budget allocations are implemented, he said and added that people should make choice between culture slayers and culture conservers.

BJP men lack honesty

Former minister Ramanath Rai alleged that the BJP should be ashamed to claim the credits of the programmes initiated by the UPA government especially for the fishermen and upgradation of the ports in coastal belt. He said BJP leaders have no honesty in obliging the dishonest works done by them, instead they have gone to that extent of defending their shameless deeds, he added.

Karnataka Pradesha Congress Committee Secretary Kadur C Nanajappa informed Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde has more support in Chikmagalur constituency when compared to BJP candidate Sunil Kumar. Public are fed up with the scandals and corruption involving the BJP leaders and ministers. The BJP was instrumental in disturbing the peace which prevailed in Chikmagalur for its selfish motives. Public in those areas are ignorant about JD(S) candidate. JD(S) will be totally rejected by the voters, he said.
