Infosys celebrates World Water Day

Infosys Limited celebrated World Water Day recently.

As a part of the day, a number of activities were organised at its campus in the city to promote awareness on water related issues as well as inspire employees to conserve water in their day-to-day lives.  To mark the event, ‘Swarathma,’ a popular folk-rock band played their celebrated song ‘Pyaasi,’ for the employees. A panel discussion on water conservation was also organised to educate employees on methods that can adopt to conserve water, according to a press release from the company,Several contests including film making, photography and blog writing were organised for employees to showcase their creative ideas for water conservation across development centres in India, said the release.

Employees across the ten Infosys development centres in India pledged to reduce their water conservation by 5 per cent over the next six months. 

The targeted reduction in water consumption is expected to drive savings of 90 million litres of fresh water for Infosys, said the release.

The release added that Infosys’ Mysore development centre won the national award for excellence in water management from CII in November 2011.
