Body building championship

Dakshina Kannada Body Builders’ Association will be organising ‘Mr Dakshina Kannada 2011-12’, a district-level body building championship at Town Hall, Mangalore on March 29 at 4.30 pm. 

Addressing reporters on Monday, Association Working President Arthur D’Souza said that Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Gulzar Banu will be inaugurating the event.SDM Business Management College Principal Dr K Devaraj, Arun Prakash Shetty from Ujire, Mathrushree Credit and Investment Proprietor B Padmanabha, KMC Department of Orthopaedic Professor Dr K Ghanshyam Kamath and Kasturi Pharma Proprietor Madandas Vaishnav will be the chief guests of the event.  

D’Souza said competition will be categorised as seniors, masters and physically challenged. It is also categorised according to the weight like 55kgs, 60kgs, 65kgs, 70kgs, 80kgs and 80 plus kgs.

First prize winner will get Rs 3,000 as prize money while runner up will get Rs 2,000. Third prize winner will be honoured with Rs 1,000 of prize money and memento. ‘Mr Dakshina Kannada 2011-12’ title winner will be getting Rs 5,000 as prize money with a shield. 

Arthur D’Souza said that the association is expecting as many as 200 participants in the competition.

Prize distribution programme would start at 8 pm. Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr K N Vijay Prakash, Neel Sales and Services Proprietor Sunil Achar, Sri Mahalaxmi Jewellers Proprietor Ravindra Nikam and Hotel Food land Proprietor Ganesh Shetty will be the guests of honour.
