<p> A watchman in a residential complex here was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly injuring a stray dog.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Chandram, the 30-year-old guard at a complex in Sainikpuri colony had allegedly thrown stones and beat a street dog with a stick, thus breaking its leg, after the residents complained of their sleep being disturbed by the canine’s midnight howls.<br /><br />However, plight of the dog evoked sympathy in Sheikh Sha, an animal lover from the complex. He subsequently approached PETA (People for the ethical treatment to animals).<br />Along with PETA, Sha filed a complaint with the Kushaiguda police station. Chandram was charged under the section 11(o) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. <br /><br />Sub-inspector Rajasekhar said: “When produced in local court magistrate refused bail to him and hence he has been remanded to judicial custody till the case will be taken up for trail on Monday.”<br /></p>
