Man kidnaps 3-yr-old niece, lands in jail

A three-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly abducted for ransom of Rs 18 lakh at the behest of her maternal uncle.

All the accused persons including the conspirator landed in police custody after a few hours of the incident.

The baby is now with her parents. Ravi, 29, hatched the plan to kidnap his niece, who lives with her maternal grandparents in Awadhpuri Colony in Jhotwara area.He wanted money to clear a Rs 18 lakh debt.

His call details and suspicious conduct landed him in police custody.

Aakrit, daughter of an advocate, was abducted by two men on Friday morning when she was
waiting for her school van.

The kidnappers demanded Rs 15 to 20 lakh for the girl’s safe return.

Family members informed police.

Ravi along with his mother had gone to a multiplex to give the money to the kidnappers.

They brought the girl back home. Ravi claimed that he arranged the amount from his friends and relatives.

But the investigation revealed that he extracted the money from his father.

He confessed to be involved in the kidnapping, police said.

The girl was abducted by Ravi’s cousin Kuldeep and Varun Pratap, who work in Ravi’s placement agency.

Ravi’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Dolly Mishra, was also involved in the kidnapping.

“The accused were arrested under section 364-A of IPC and are being interrogated,” Jaipur police commissioner B L Soni said.
