The Hindustan Aviation Academy (HAA) Bangalore has always encouraged its students to participate in extracurricular activities and this year its BTech (Aerospace Engineering) students took part in a workshop on radio control, aircraft design, fabrication and flying, held in the City at the New Horizon College.

There were students from other prestigious engineering colleges across the City, Chennai and Hyderabad. The atmosphere was vibrant with students exhibiting their creativity to the hilt. They fabricated and flew their aircraft models using radio control.

The model was fabricated by one of the HAA teams, comprising  Mayur Parkar, Leroy Coelho, Vikas Bhat, Jainit Mayani and Susanta Shekhar. The team of talented young boys flew their radio controlled model to a height  of a five-storied building and was safely brought back to land. It was adjudged the best and bagged the ‘Best fabrication award.’

Not only did the students prove their mettle in building a model but they were just as knowledgeable when it came to testing their theoretical knowledge in aircraft structures, aerodynamics and flight mechanics as well.

Chairman of the Academy K C Samuel, executive director Air Comde. Dominic Mathew, Principal of the College Air Comde. Sajaad Rahim and Prof Wg Cmdr Sabarwal felicitated the students for their outstanding performance at the high tea hosted by the management on the college premises.
