Studying in india

Dear Sir,

I have completed a Bachelor’s in Engineering (Information Science) and I am currently employed at a bank. I am contemplating pursuing an MBA in Finance. Which are the best institutes in Bangalore that offer this programme? What is the scope of jobs in the banking sector with an MBA degree? I am also interested in History as a subject. Can you suggest some lucrative job options with these courses?

Dear Ritu,

Make a choice between Finance and Social Sciences (History) as they are two completely different fields. If you have liked your work at the bank and wish to continue in that sector, then you should appear for the various entrance exams including CAT, MAT and K-MAT.  There are hundreds of good colleges offering MBA in Finance, and your selection will depend on your percentile or ranking in the qualifying exam.  Right now you must focus on preparing well for the highly competitive entrance exams.

Dear Sir,

I am in the second year of a degree in Mechanical Engineering and I live in a town far from Bangalore. Which are the courses I can pursue from my town that will help me improve my skill set (communication skills mainly) and future plans, without having to move to the City?

Dear Arjun,

It is good that you have understood the importance of communication skills.  You will find that your employment prospects increase significantly if you sharpen your soft-skills, which includes communication, interpersonal relationships, personality development etc.
Start with speaking to strangers and people in authority with assertiveness and in English.  Read newspapers and magazines regularly. Visit one or two big cities and get a feel of the lifestyle there.

In two years, by the time you complete your engineering, you will be able to be on par with your peers.
