Bike hits footpath, pillion rider killed

Three people were killed in as many road accidents in the City since Thursday night.

Suttalal, 19, died when the motorcycle he was riding pillion hit an elevated footpath in the underpass on Vatal Nagaraj Road on Thursday.

Suttalal and his friend Chennaram were returning home when the accident occurred. Suttalal, who was tossed in the air, hit the sidewall of the underpass and suffered grievous head injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

In another accident, Amjad Pasha was killed when he lost control of his two-wheeler and rammed it into the footpath on Kasturba Road on Friday morning. Pasha was on his way to Russell Market. A traffic constable rushed a bleeding Pasha to a nearby hospital, but he died on the way.

BMTC mows down man

A pedestrian was mowed down by a speeding BMTC bus at Vijayanagar on Thursday night while he was crossing the road in front of Raheja Apartments. Police said he was drunk and might have not noticed the bus. His identity is yet to be established.
