Three people died and three others, including a two-year-old child, are reported missing after a country boat capsized in the Hooghly River near Konnangar on Saturday morning.
According to the police, the boat with about 19 pilgrims and oarsmen was on its way from Sukhchar in North 24 Parganas district to Shakuntala Kalibari (Kali Temple) at Konnagar when it capsized near the Baro Madirtala ghat—10 km away from the destination.
Local people, police and firemen managed to rescue 13 pilgrims.
