Mangalore bids adieu to Kakkilaya

Scores of leaders, cutting across party lines, and hundreds of Comrades and admirers on Monday bid an emotional adieu to veteran CPI leader B V Kakkilaya.

Party cadres hailed ‘Lal Salaam’ and ‘Long live Comrade Kakkilaya’ as his mortal remains were consigned to flames at Nandigudda crematorium.

Hundreds paid homage to Kakkilaya as the body wrapped in red flag kept for public homage at Communist Party of India’s office at Goodshed Road. People from all walks of life gathered at the party office from 2 pm onwards topay last respects to their beloved leader for the last time braving rain.

Karnataka Assembly Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat, MLA U T Khader, former Union  minister Janardhan Poojary, DCC President Ramanath Rai, BJP District President Padmanabha Kottari, KPCC General Secretary Ivan D’Souza, Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations President Narendra Nayak, CPI Kasargod District Secretary Govindan Pallikkappil, Veteran CPI leader K K Kodoth, CPI Kerala State Council members K V Krishnan, T Krishnan, Kisan Sabha Kerala State President P A Nair,  AITUC Kasargod District President B V Rajan, CPI Manjeshwar MC Secretary M Sanjeeva Shetty, CITU District President Vasanth Achary, DYFI leader Muneer Kattipalla, Sunil Bajal among others paid their respect to the veteran leader.
CPI General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy, Union Minister Veerappa Moily and CPI Kerala State Secretary Pannyan Raveendran have condoled the death of B V Kakkilaya.
A condolence meeting will be conducted at NGO Hall on Tuesday at 12 noon.
