Calling out to choreographers

A residency programme for 15 choreographers from all over the world is being organised by Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore, India.

‘Facets Residency’ is scheduled to take place between December 5, 2012 to January 23, 2013 in Bangalore with an optional break dur-ing Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Applicants must have experience in choreography (original work) and be interested in developing a 10 to 15-minute solo dance at the workshop in  Bangalore.

The possibility of collaborating with another participating choreographer, if additional funds and facilities can be arranged, is possible too. However, each choreographer has to make an original work of their own.

Applicants must submit the following materials by e-mail or post:

*Proposal: Must include a statement of interest, a concept note with the thematic process

*Artist statement: Brief statement that describes your creative process, treatment of movement material and whether multi-media, music and digital art will be a part of the process and performance

*Full name, mailing address, telephone number, date of birth and email address
This workshop will be premiered at the Attakkalari India Biennial 2013, an international contemporary movement arts festival that will be held between January 25 and February 3, 2013 in Bangalore. If there is interest from partner organisations, some selected works from the Residency may then tour some cities of India as part of the Sanchaari Mobile Theatre Initiative.

Attendees will have the opportunity to develop their work under the guidance of an acclaimed team of international choreographers, theatre directors, light designers, composers and digital artists. Facets will be coordinated by Jayachandran Palazhy, artistic director, Attakalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore.

The programme will facilitate the development of work with the following technical support that will then be presented at the Attakkalari India Biennial 2013:
