Half-built Aasare houses to be completed

Last Updated 06 June 2012, 20:07 IST

The State government has decided to complete the construction of about 3,000 houses under Aasare scheme, left unfinished by various non-government organisations in north Karnataka districts, Housing Minister V Somanna said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, he said the government had identified nearly 3,000 incomplete houses and directed the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board to complete the construction and distribute the houses to the beneficiaries.

Except for a few in Raichur, Yadgir, Bagalkot and Bijapur districts, house construction under Aasare scheme is at the completion stage in the rest of the State.

A meeting of senior officials will be held on June 17 and 18 in Raichur and Yadgir to take stock of the progress, he added. Aasare scheme was meant to rehabilitate those who were affected by the floods in 2009.
