District in-charge minister Varthur Prakash on Tuesday was at the receiving end when the public inadvertently blocked the roads to express their unhappiness over delay in issue of caste and income certificates at the ‘Nemmadi’ service centres in the city.
At 3 pm, the public were waiting in queue for obtaining caste and income certificates at the nemmadi centre near the residence of the district superintendent of police. The centre was closed for the lunch break and the public were angry that they had not got the certificates even months after submitting the applications.
Citizens irked
Irritated, the public, including women, were waiting for the staff to resume the service when the heard the sirens of the minister’s convoy. They intercepted the minister’s vehicle and complained to him about the inefficient services at the Nemmadi centre.
The minister, who gave them a patient hearing, called the tahsildar over the phone. The public let the minister go only after he promised them that the tahsildar would address their problems immediately.
