'Tulu Lipi Aksharamale has errors'

The book on tulu script - ’Tulu Lipi Aksharamale’ - authored by G V S Ullal which was released at Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy office recently, has several errors which need to be rectified, said script researcher Mohan K Bolar.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Bolar said that many of the letters written in Tulu script in the book resemble other letters thus creating confusion. The book appears as if it has been authored in hurry hence consists of errors.

 Supplying these books to the school children for study purpose would end up in confusion, he said.

Meanwhile, he demanded the Academy which has approved G V S Ullal’s book, to call for a meeting of the Tulu scholars and authors and discuss about the flaws in the book and methods to rectify them.

The letters which are clearly mentioned and defined in other books should be taken in to consideration and should be replaced in the book, he insisted.

He stated that none of the books written so far on Tulu scripts including the one by Venkataraj Punichiththaya are flawless.

Mohan Bolar too has authored the book on Tulu scripts.
