'Roads' are the way ahead for MP Dhruvanarayan

E-auction of tobacco would be launched shortly to benefit growers

Member of Parliament R Dhruvanarayan said Rs nine crore has been released for development of Mysore- Ooty road and works relating to four lane road, a stretch of 26 kms, between Mysore and Nanjangud would start in near future.

Addressing the media persons on the occasion of completing three years as MP, he said, development of highway roads was something he focused on. Among Rs 32 crores granted by Central road funds, Rs 22 crores is used in Mysore region.

He said 209, 212 and 67 highways pass through Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency paving way to realise the potential of tourism. Emphasis has been laid on development of Mysore- Nanjangud road with land acquisition process would begin shortly.

He disclosed that road development works would be taken over in public private partnership (PPP) and tender has been invited for the bridge across Kapila river to facilitate transport between Mysore and Nanjangud. Along with this, works on road connecting Mysore and T Narasipur would start shortly.

According to facilities for State announced in the Railway budget, nine trains have been sanctioned and they would start plying from July 15 and including the one connecting Mysore and Chamarajanagar.

He said reports relating to development of tourist sites around Chamarajanagar and Mysore were submitted to State and Central governments, but no measures were taken for improvement of districts.

Dhruvanarayan announced that former minister Oscar Fernandes would inaugurate the works of tobacco purchasing centre on July 10 at H D Kote.

The Centre has come up at a cost of Rs five crore. E-auction of tobacco would be launched shortly, to benefit the growers.

He said Rs four crore has been sanctioned for a full fledged ESI hospital at Nanjangud and works would start from last week of June.

Former ZP president Siddarth, S C Basavarajappa, Kotehundi Mahadevu, District Congress president Dharmasena were present.
