All-round show spurs Herons to huge win

S Vinodh, Hardik Munoth and Zahoor came up with fine efforts at various stages of the match as Herons Cricket Club defeated Malleswaram Gymkhana by 10 wickets in the DELL-KSCA Group I, Division I league for the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield over the weekend.

Vinodh’s hundred (135, 177b, 16x4, 3x6) was the cornerstone of Herons’ competitive first innings total of 292 all out in 69.5 overs. Munoth’s five-wicket burst along with TK Ananth’s four-wicket haul ensured that Malleswaram’s innings would end at 189 all out in 52.3 overs. After following on, Malleswaram couldn’t do any better in their second innings either, crumbling against Zahoor (5/12) for a well below-par 115 all out. Herons needed just 13 runs to win, a task they duly completed in just 1.1 overs.
