A group of miscreants damaged property after gaining entry into Holy Hill, a place of worship, near Pumpwell in the City.

The incident came to light on Monday morning when a devotee noticed it. Apart from vandalising tube lights, flower pots and a glass case, the miscreants had also damaged the light on the Cross atop Holy Hill.

The place has been functioning for the past 16 years under the management of the Servants of Lords Trust and the Chief of the Trust is Paul Rodrigues. The police suspect that the incident might have taken place between 7 pm and 6.10 am.

“The main gate of the Holy Hill is closed in the evening to avoid people climbing atop the hill late in the evening. No one is allowed to enter the premises after sunset. ” said a devotee K S Chacko. City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, DCP Dharmaiah and ACP Jagannath visited the spot.

Mangalore diocese Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that it was an attempt to disturb peace in the region.
