Youth killed in accident

A 22-year-old youth died in an accident near gate number nine of Chinnaswamy Stadium, between Queen’s Circle and CTO junction, in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the police, the deceased is Sai Bharath, a resident of Mathikere. He was working at the Empire Hotel, off Church Street. Around 4 am, he was on his way back home from the hotel when the accident took place.

The passersby alerted the Cubbon Park traffic police after noticing the man lying on the road. 

The police arrived at the spot and found that he was dead. Bharath’s body was shifted for post-mortem. 

They saw that the bike was severly damaged. It is suspected to be a case of hit-and-run or he might have rammed his bike into the median. Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the accident. CCTV footage is being obtained for clues about the accident, said the police.

A case has been registered at the Cubbon Park traffic police station.

Tanker rams bikerA 22-year-old labourer was killed after a milk tanker rammed his bike near Kaggalipura bus stand on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the deceased is Manju Nayak, a resident of Maralawadi near Kaggalipura in Kanakapura taluk. On Tuesday night, Nayak was on his way back home, when the tanker coming from the opposite direction hit his bike. 

Nayak sustained severe head injuries and passersby shifted him to a private hospital, where he was declared brought dead. 

The Kaggalipura police, who arrived at the spot, seized the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The village residents - who had launched a protest - dispersed after the police promised action against the tanker driver.

A case has been registered at the Kaggalipura police station.
