The Samajwadi Party, which supported UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee for the presidential poll, confirmed that it will not stake claim for the post of vice-president against its support for Mukherjee.
“We are not going to stake claim for the post of Vice President. We have no such intention,” SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav told reporters here.
Elections for the post of vice-president are due in August.
The SP leader also ruled out any possibility of SP joining the UPA-II government at the Centre.
