Shivapura to get rly station

Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa has assured Mandya MP Cheluvarayaswamy that a sum of Rs 35 lakh will be released to construct the station at this town known for freedom struggle.

The MP said the Indian Railways had earlier agreed in principle to the demand for a station here. The minister assured him that a new train from Mysore to Hassan via Holenarasipur will be started next year.

He also said Commerce Minister Anand Sharma has assured him that he would consider a demand for opening a market for tobacco at K R Nagar in Mandya district to facilitate purchase of tobacco from the farmers. The National Horticulture Mission will now cover Mandya district too as the Centre has agreed to implement the project in all the districts of the State. Earlier, only 24 districts had been covered under the mission, he added.
