JD(S) activists demands compensation for crop loss

JD(S) leaders urged deputy commissioner Krishnaiah to give compensation for the loss of crop due to drought in the district, here on Monday.

Farmers are not in a postilion to pay back the loans and to stop farmers from committing suicides, loan repayment be cancelled immediately, demanded MLA Puttaraju.

Kumaraswamy had released Rs 300 crore as compensation for loss of crop. The state government should come forward to help the farmers, opined puttaraju.

Sugarcane should go for crushing only after fixing Rs 3000 per tone. Discrimination in providing the due amount for farmers should be avoided. Sugar factories should be ordered to pay the due amount immediately, are the demands put forward by the JD(S) leaders.

JD(S) district block officer D Ramesh, municipality vice-president J C Nagaraj, member S P Gourish and others were present.
