Nemmadi Kendra staff in dire straits

All the documents which were distributed through Nemmadi Kendra at the hobli level, will be henceforth be distributed through Naada kacheri.

The employees of Nemmadi Kendra was worried over losing the source of livelihood.

The employees of Nemmadi Kendra have been working for the last six years and the government has not taken any decision on their future. There are 25 Nemmadi Kendra employees who are facing threat of losing their job in Kodagu district.

The government has decided to open Naada kacheri in every hobli and distribute the documents required for the public. The government will only recruit employees to Naada kacheri. The Nemmadi Kendra workers have been urging the government to give priority to them while recruiting staff for the Naada Kacheri.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Karnataka Rajya Nemmadi Naukarara Sangha district unit President Divya said “We have been serving in the Nemmadi Kendra for the last five to six years. We have enough experience in the field. Why not the government consider us. The government has been neglecting us.”

There are 1,600 workers employed at 800 hobli centres and 177 taluk offices in Karnataka. Most of the employees have completed either PUC or degree and have knowledge on computer. Now we are in dire straits. Our families will come to streets.”

As many as 25 staff are working at Madikeri, Napoklu, Sampaje, Bhagamandala, Somwarpet, Kushalnagar, Shanivarasanthe, Kodlipete, Shanthalli, Suntikoppa, Virajpet, Ammathi, Srimangala, Balele, Hudikere and Ponnampet Nemmadi Kendra.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Assistant Commissioner G Prabhu said “the government has withdrawn its decision to outsource issuing of documents. All the services will be available at Naada Kacheri.

Accordingly, arrangement has been made to open Naada Kacheri in every hobli centres. Computers and internet facility is being provided to the centres. The service at Naada Kacheri will commence from September 10.”

He said the gobernment has not taken any decision on the services of the employees at Nemmadi Kendra. The Nemmadi Kendra was distributing documents like income certificate, caste certificate, RTC, death and birth certificates and other 38 services from the revenue department.”
