<p>A total of 6,050 seats have been allotted in the first stage of casual vacancy round in the online counselling for undergraduate professional courses.</p>.<p><br />The highest number of seats (5,585) were allotted in the engineering stream.<br />As many as 173 seats were allotted in Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISM&H), followed by 166 in dental, 77 in medical, and 49 in architecture stream, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) said.</p>.<p><br />The number of un-allotted seats is 6,087. Engineering has 5,789 un-allotted seats, architecture 139, dental 102, medical 39, and ISM&H 18.<br /><br />Students belonging to different reserved categories, except General Merit (GM) alone, were eligible to take part in the first stage of the counselling held from August 3 to 5.<br />As many as 11,229 seats were available in this stage. Besides, 90 cancelled seats were added. The total number of additional seats was 110. <br /><br />According to the KEA, 8,28,353 options were entered by 20,184 students during the option entry process.<br /><br />Among them were 18,787 who had gone for choice 2 in the admission round. The remaining (1,361) were those who had rejected the seats allotted to them earlier.<br />The total number of students who retained their seats was 14,168. As many as 13,279 engineering students retained their seats, followed by 463 medical, 234 dental, 168 ISM&H, and 24 architecture. The number of students who have not been allotted any seats is 4,865.</p>.<p><br />For the second stage scheduled to begin on August 16, GM and other candidates, other than those who might be allotted seats under special categories later, are eligible.<br />Seats which remain unfilled under various general categories in the first stage will be available in the second stage. In addition, unfilled seats <br />under special categories, if any, will be converted into GM category and offered to students.<br /></p>
