Former State Youth Congress President Dinesh Gundurao on Monday has urged the State government to reject the interim report on homestay attack, submitted by the State Women’s Commission chairperson.

Speaking at a protest rally organised by the Congress in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office, against the homestay attack, he said the State government should constitute a fast track court to hear the case. If necessary, the case should be handed over to the CBI.

Terming the incident as a black mark on the State, he alleged that State Women Commission Chairperson Manjula didn’t even meet the victims.

Former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake alleged that the BJP government is protecting Hindu Jagarana Vedike convenor Jagadish Karanth, who is facing 28 criminal cases related to communal violence. Karanth should be arrested under the Goonda Act.

Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee President Ramanath Rai alleged a few organisations are taking law into their hands in the name of culture. State Women’s Congress President Manjula Naidu said that the state government is sowing seeds of hatredness in the state.

Procession

As a part of the protest, the Congress members took out a procession from Mangalore City Corporation to DC’s office. The procession started by paying a floral tribute to bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Lalbagh.

As a part of the protest, State Women Congress members burnt the copies of interim report on homestay attack submitted by State Women’s Commission to the government.
