The ministers of Mizoram and Sikkim met Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, on Monday, to check the security measures taken by the State government to protect the people of North-East living in the State.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, K T Gyaltsen, Speaker of Sikkim Legislative assembly said they met the chief minister to express their gratitude for taking the initiative to personally pacify the petrified people of North-East. “The students who belong to remote areas of Sikkim have returned to their native following the rumours. We are in the process of counselling them to overcome their fear. We are happy the way Karnataka government is handling the situation,” he added.

Lalrinliana Sai Lo, Health minister of Mizoram said despite the government doing its best, there is still a lot of insecurity among the students of North-East.

“I have requested the government to take elaborate measures in terms of security in areas where the people of this region live,” he added.

N K Pradhan, Minister of Human Resources Development Department, Sikkim said the chief minister had assured them that the miscreants who have been sending messages to induce fear will be arrested. “There are many students and workers who are staying in Bangalore for a reason. I have convinced them not to bow to any false propagation,” he added.
