Sriramulu quizzed in cash-for-bail scam

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday questioned former Karnataka minister and Badava Shramika Raitha (BSR) Congress party founder B Sriramulu for almost six hours, regarding the source of money transferred from Bellary to secure bail for disgraced mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.

Sriramulu appeared before ACB in response to a notice served to him last week. He was accompanied by BJP MP from Bellary J Shanta and Raichur MP Sanna Phakirappa.

Sriramulu was questioned on the source of money paid to a CBI judge to secure bail for Reddy. He was summoned after his nephew and Kampli legislator T H Suresh Babu told the investigating officials that he had acted on Sriramulu’s behest.

Sources said Sriramulu denied involvement in the cash-for-bail scam. “The Karnataka legislator, during the questioning session, refused to accept his role,” ACB officials said. Sriramulu might skip interrogation on Wednesday as he is scheduled to attend a political function in Belgaum, they added.
