Conman promises sites, lands in police net

B J Anant, a resident of Teachers’ Colony near Banashankari is the accused.
Police said Anant had collected money from many people in Vijayanagar, Subramanyapura, Uttarahalli, and other places by falsely promising them sites. He promised autos and bank loans  also. Police arrested him on the complaint of one of the victims, Muralidhar of AGS Layout.

Student killed in accident

Rajesh Kumar (20) of CK Achchukattu and a second PU student of Vijaya College was killed on the spot when he was knocked down by a bus near Town Hall in Halasuru Gate police limits on Thursday.  

Two suffer burns

Two persons suffered burns when a cylinder caught fire in the KR Puram police limits on Friday morning.

The victims Gangamma (60) and Venugopal (25) were rushed to a hospital. They are said to be out of danger, police said. Gangamma requested her neighbour Venugopal to replace the empty cylinder with the refilled one. Both of them failed to notice gas leaking while replacing the cylinder.

When Gangamma lit the stove to cook and the cylinder caught fire.  

Burglars held

Sagar and Mahesh, residents of Bagalur, were arrested on Friday morning when they were trying to burgle a credit co-operative society.  

They broke open the window grills of Sahakarnagar Credit Cooperative Society office in Sahakarnagar S Block. A few neighbour, on hearing some sound inside the society office, alerted the officials who complained to the police.  

Women end lives

Two women committed suicide in two separate incidents in City. Jayalakshmi (32), a resident of Devasandra and native of Malur, allegedly ended life on Thursday. She had married Shivashankar, a security supervisor for Group Four security agency and employed at City Corp at UB City.

In another incident, Saraswati (29), who was ailing for some time, committed suicide at her house in Jayarajnagar near Ulsoor.
