All Assam Manipuri Students Union (AAMSU) on Saturday demanded high-level inquiry into the death of Irom Sanjib Kumar Singha who was thrown out a running train near Allahabad during the exodus of northeast people following the violence in Assam.

The student body has also demanded compensation for his family. AAMSU members took out a procession at Lakhipur town in Cachar district in support of its demand and submitted a memorandum to Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, through the sub-divisional officer of Lakhipur.

AAMSU general secretary Ranjan Laishram said Singha’s death on August 17 after being thrown out of the train had shattered his family as he was the only breadwinner of the family and demanded adequate compensation and justice.

Singha, who worked in a private company of Hyderabad, hailed from Kaptanpur part-3 village under Lakhipur police station.
